The Treasure Hunt

Ram and his brother Sham were both sitting in the car already homesick. They were sitting at the back with their mother on there way to their new school, Cosy Beds Boarding School. What type of name was that for a school? But they were forced to go despite all their tantrums and fights they had with their parents. They were so angry as they didn't want to leave all their friends at their earlier school and otherwise in their compound. The main reason they were being sent this boarding school was because of their bad behaviour at school and their bad grades. Their mother was not very keen at sending them  to boarding school either but had then finally agreed after many long arguments with their father.

As they approached the school they saw that it looked very haunted. A long grey coloured tower stood on each of the corners. The main building itself looking like a prison. As they drew closer the boys got more and more scared of entering the haunted house. When they reached one of the teachers came out to greet them and take them inside. After they said bye and their mother kissed them goodbye the boys reluctantly followed the teacher inside tears already streaming down their cheeks at parting with their mother. As they went in, they looked around, the school grounds looked very creepy and didn't look like they had been used in months. Their teacher led them inside and as they entered the main building. They saw an astonishing sight. The whole inside building was amazing. It didn't look like the outside at all. The inside had marble floors and the pillars were made with beautiful lion heads at the top. But they were not comforted with the strange yet beautiful sight.

As their teacher lead the way to their bunks they saw many other boys who looked friendly and well fed. The boys freshened up and made their way back to the main hall with some other of their roommates. They got a seat at one of the dining tables which was right in the corner. They didn't want to sit with anyone yet as none of their classmates had yet become friendly with them. The food was not as good as they expected but it was still OK. They became tired early and straight after they finished dinner they went up to their bunks and retired into their beds.

The next day Ram woke up early and he woke up Sham too. They both got ready and decided to go for a walk in the fields. They silently walked out and made their way down to the main hall. They knew the way quite well and could go straight down without getting lost. They went out of the main door silently shutting it behind them. They walked out into the cool morning. It felt nice on their face after sleeping for so much time in a claustrophobic room which didn't even have an AC. As they walked into the school grounds, Sham noticed a tiny chit folded and kept under the leg of one of the bleacher. He walked up to it curious to know what secrets could be written in it. With the help of Ram, he picked up the bleacher. Sham picked up the chit and unfolded it. In bold and capital letters it said-

I CAN ANNOUNCE THE TEAM,

COUNTRY OR SEASON.

TO DISPLAY ME YOU 

DO NOT NEED A REASON.

Ram and Sham thought for a second and then Ram said, "It's a treasure hunt! The flag post!" They both immediately ran over to the flag post, they had seen it on the way in. They found it almost immediately. It was stuck on the back of the pole with a little bit of cello tape. Ram plucked it out and quickly opened it. This one said-

I AM  FILLED 

SIX DAYS A WEEK

BUT IF YOU DO NOT OWN ME 

YOU CAN NOT TAKE A PEAK.

The two brothers thought for a minute. Then suddenly Sham got it, "A mailbox! The postmen take a holiday on Sunday's and you need a key to open a mailbox!" They both ran over to the gate and stepped out and they looked around for a mailbox. They found it almost immediately. It was old and rusted and the top of the mailbox had a big hole in it. Ram put his hand inside, careful not to get cut by any of the sharp edges. He felt around inside and felt a small piece of paper. He gently removed his hand with the chit. They opened the chit. It said-

IT HAS BEEN A LONG DAY

I AM ABOUT TO BURST

RUSH BY ME 

TO QUENCH YOUR THIRST

Ram said thought for a moment and almost immediately got it, "The drinking water fountain! Its out in the fields!" The two boys rushed to the water fountain and searched it. But they could not find it. Sham turned the tap to see if it still functioned. There was a sudden spluttering sound and a small chit fell out, "I found it Ram." The two excited boys opened the chit. This is what it said-

THE FINAL PRIZE

LOOK AT ME TO 

SEE YOUR EYES.

"The final chit!" said Ram excitedly. Sham thought about and wondered if it would be inside the school. Surely they were mirrors in the bathroom? But there wouldn't be one clue inside and all the others outside. It seemed that Ram was thinking the same thing cause just them he said, "I saw  cars parked at the back.... it could the mirror of one of those." They both realising that that was the answer, started running towards the back. They were there in no time and looking around they saw only two cars."I'll take one and you take one," said Sham. They both frantically started searching and after some time Sham found it in the glove compartment with a tiny pocket mirror. The treasure was unbelievable, it was a huge box of chocolate. He showed it to Ram and they both a happy as could be went back in and jumped back in bed as it was still early in the morning.
